School Transport

The Local Authority (LA) will provide free transport between home and school if the school attended is the nearest appropriate one. Please contact Bath & North East Somerset on 01225 395208 for enquiries. The Local Authority oversees the contracts with the coach companies, not the school.

The Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership runs the following coaches: Timsbury, Peasedown, Oakhill/Chilcompton which can change each year depending on the requirement. Places are reserved on a first come, first served basis at the beginning of the academic year. Costs from Sept 2023 will be £250 per term (£750 per year). Payment is made by ParentPay.  This will be the last year that MNSP will subsidise these coaches meaning that costs may rise from Sept 2024.

N.B. The routes and costs can change at any time at the discretion of the Partnership.

To apply for a space on the above MNSP coaches please complete our School Transport Registration Form 2023/24. For any other queries regarding the MNSP Coaches please contact: kstrass@nortonhillschool.com

Adverse Weather on Somerset Coaches (Only)

As you are aware we have suffered severe flooding recently which has disrupted some school transport contracts. In an effort to improve our communication with schools and parents we have set up a website. This advises which schools are closed, routes not operating or restricted routes. In the event of severe weather, could you look at the website below before calling Transporting Somerset as this will enable staff to answer the Contractors and keep the website up-to-date!

Our website is: www.somerset.gov.uk/badweathertransport

The routes held on the Weather affected routes - School Transport on the webpage are those vehicles with 16 seats or more.

School closure information from the Somerset Learning Platform is at: https://slp.somerset.gov.uk/cypd/Lists/Emergency%20School%20Closures%20Today/ClosedToday.aspx
