Somervale School wows with ambitious stage production

Somervale School's drama and music department cast a spell on its audience in an entrancing performance of Disney's Beauty and the Beast.

The show was the most ambitious production at the Midsomer Norton school for several years involving a live orchestra, dance, song and acting.

It was performed over three nights and received standing ovations each time.

The students also performed to more than 250 local primary students from Welton, Midsomer Norton, St. John's and High Littleton primary schools.

Assistant headteacher Cathie Evans, who produced the show, said: "Immense credit has to go to the cast, production team and band who put together a really sophisticated show. The students really showcased their talents and created a musical of great quality."

Deputy headteacher Mark Kenny added: "The production really created a tremendous buzz of excitement in the school, we are already talking about what next. It is fantastic to see such great talent performing on our stage again."
