At Somervale, History is taught at all Key Stages. At Key Stage Three students study History study skills before going on to focus on the invasions of Britain throughout History, from the Romans to the Normans. They then progress on to the Tudors, Stuarts, Industrial Revolution and the Slave Trade before culminating in the ever popular 20th Century History.

All History at the school is designed to be dynamic, relevant, stimulating and engaging.
At GCSE students have been very successful in studying Modern World History focusing upon events between the Two World Wars as well as the Edwardian Period in Britain.
Our Year 11 pupils are also lucky to have a once in a life time experience when they visit the WW1 battlefields in Belgium during the Autumn term.

At Key Stage Five, students study units on the Cold War, the Tudors. Russia and Nazi Germany. One of the great features of Key Stage Five History is taking the students to the heart of European history, Berlin.
